Every year on the first weekend of December, Fairview High School hosts a Tip-Off Tournament to begin the basketball season. The teams invited to this year’s tournament were General McLane, Union City, Erie First, and your Fairview Tigers. Fans filled the stands to watch the Tigers take the court to kick-off the basketball season. Fairview played Union City, Friday, December 5, where they had a great game. They were ahead by so many that Coach Nies sent in the sophomore basketball players, but there was no hope for the Bears. The 2011 and 2012 District Ten champions girls softball team from Fairview High School enter the 2013 season with not the goals of a returning champion but perhaps more of a restructuring of the lineup. With much noted success in the past season, the tiger softball program has much enjoyed “basking in the glow” of gold medals, but as the team saw many key players graduate at the end of last year it is back to the drawing board for this 2013 season.
